After hours on end of the whole team being locked in a conference room together (well at least there was free food), the Spiceworks Network Monitor Beta is live and ready for ya’!
Spiceworks Network Monitor is our brand new app for real-time monitoring of your critical systems so you can be ahead of the game and see issues long before your users.
You can monitor your servers and switches for info such as:
- Device offline
- Port link is down
- Current, average, spiking CPU usage
- CPU is overloaded (CPU queue length)
- Current, average, spiking RAM usage
- RAM is overloaded (hard page faults)
- Free disk space (% and GB)
- Current, average, spiking Disk activity (KB/sec)
- Disk is overloaded (Disk queue length)
- Current, average, spiking Network bandwidth (KB/sec)
- Current, average, spiking Network activity (packets/sec)
- Current, average, spiking packet error rate
- Network is overloaded (packet discard rate)
So join the group , download the latest build , and be the hero of your IT network.
We will also be holding a regular meet-up with the dev team so you can ask your questions and give your feedback directly to the team who is cranking out this awesome new app.
See ya’ in the group!

So this is a completely separate install or a new version or Spiceworks with the beta attached? I am just curious about the upgrade path when the beta is done.

V.H.Scarpacci. We’ve had this issue too. Seems to only support 64bit software.

This is a completely separate app from Spiceworks and will still be a separate app once it is released.
If you are having issues, make sure to post them in the group so the dev team can take a look at what may be happening.

Is there a way (maybe when it hits final) to import servers/network devices from sw?

I’m not sure if that is in the works or not. Definitely throw that question out to the Dev team in the beta group.
Had this running for a few days and find it very promissing
The only thing that I was not able to control was the amount of emails.
We monitored our core switch for a few days. During the backup period the network usage goes up significantly which triggers an email about every few seconds. I was not able to reduce the amount of email generated by the network monitor.
Same goes when monitoring a server. When CPU spikes, it keeps on notifying me via email filling my mailbox rapidly.
Perhaps this can be set, but I was unable to find how.

The dev team should be able to help you out with this and they also should know that you are having a hard time finding that setting. Make sure to post this in the beta group:

If you are running into issues or have feedback, definitely make sure to post to the beta group so the Devs can take a look and hear your feedback.
