Has anybody else noticed how often questions are asked in the forums regarding computer related issues and if you check the user details out they probably just joined today and have no posted information about who or where they are. I begin to wonder if its just some End-user trying to mine the vast knowledge of us Spiceheads. What do you folks think/feel about that.

i bet you are talking about this post: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/350415-microsoft-outlook I am not a fan of this since they rarely know what they are talking about and rarely give any type of useful information for us IT Pros to go on. So we waste our time asking questions and when we ask they say I don’t know.

Isn’t that what we’re here for? To spread the wealth of knowledge? I think it’s great! We get to help people out (even if not IT), and hopefully get a little more respect in the process. Hopefully, they learn something as well!
If you are referring to the post linked to above, yes, that’s frustrating.

Yah that was the one the triggered this message. I mean other then wasting… Er researching our own issues in the community we don’t have time to waste.
I just blew that post up. It’s consumer level.
If you’re not interested in helping this particular user, then don’t. Lots of other questions out there to answer. That’s the beauty of the Spiceworks forums, you can pick and choose the issues you want to assist with.

Thankfully, we can choose not to try and help (or waste our time). But maybe someone has the time or desire to keep at this person and try to help them out.

We try to keep end user questions out of the community so as not to dilute the IT community with home users or end users. If you see questions like that send them to me and we remove them and recommend they use a different site.

I have no problem helping anyone who asks for help. I have a problem with people who ask for the same help over and over again. That just demonstrates an unwillingness to learn which I find unacceptable from anyone.

Thanks for chimming in peoples I just wanted to get some input to see if I was off base in my thinking or If i needed a change of thought. I guess I had this picture in my mind that we were all IT Pro’s helping out IT Pro’s. The nice thing for Spiceworks is that our answers we give for some questions seem to be finding there way into the Google results.
I guess as stewards of the greater IT Community we can help out all peoples.
