We had a power outage over the weekend, and I noticed that Help Desk wasn’t running. When i look in C:\Program Files\Spiceworks\db I see that the spiceworks_prod.db file last modified date is the same as when the server shut down (batteries only last so long). I don’t have a backup of the file, but when i look in Undelete, I see 86,933 copies of spiceworks_prod.db-journal. I restored the latest copy, and restarted the Spiceworks service, but still no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

I think you have it right on the broken DB problem, I would suggest backing up the DB folder and trying to reinstall spiceworks over the top.

This will keep your data but try a quick repair / some DB fixes.

What would be the “quick repair / some DB fixes” that I could try? Or, is reinstalling Spiceworks the way to repair the DB?

Thanks,

Tim

Sorry :stuck_out_tongue: Was typed in a hurry so no one beat me to first post :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes the reinstall would to the repair, there is no repair tool.

Just download it again from spiceworks.com and run the install, it will find your current install and try to upgrade / repair.

I would suggest backing up the db folder as well though

That fixed it.

Thanks!

Tim

Always happy to help
