I followed the directions at http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/178 to be able to scan one computer at a time. Any time I run the sagent.exe I get the following error.

C:\spiceworks\Agent\bin>sagent.exe --help
#<NameError: uninitialized constant Finder::WindowsTypes::Network>
C:/spiceworks/Agent/pkg/gems/spiceworks_finder-4.5.44497/lib/win-types.rb:9

Any help with this would be appreciated. I could not find anyone else reporting this issue, with the stand alone cloent so i figured it was a beta issue.

2 Spice ups

That system is outdated and no longer used as of 4.0. That was never an official process but there has been an official process since the remote data collector mode handles that automatically. Just install as a remote data collector without any hacks and it will work just fine.

That will allow auditing of a single machine? It seems like that is for machines on remote networks. We are looking at trying to figure out how to get a new piece of equipment into the inventory without having to wait for a full scan to run or running a full scan.

It does both. All you do is configure it just to scan the local machine if that is all that you want.

Why not just add a new asset into spice works (with ip address included) and then scan that one asset?

or add a new network scan item that just scans the one ip address?

That only works if you are directly networked together AND if the IP is static.

I understand that I was more commenting on the line:

I would think that to do this the first time it could work to just add the item and then scan it.

Ethan,

The problem you had is fixed in the latest beta build (beta VI). Please install and try again.

Works now thanks. That is exactly what we needed.
