I am helping someone set up a support company and she has limited cash flow but lots of knowledge and s hand full of opportunities she’s looking into.
Her main problem is she could do with a remote support piece of software she can make use of. Ideally, free and happy to be limited to number of connections or other reasonable limit and will ‘upgrade’ when cash flow allows.
I did find one a while ago but they’re since been sold or rebranded and no longer offer the limited free account so I wonder if anyone here knows of something I can suggest to her that would be suitable for a start up. TeamViewer and the usual suspects are a little expensive with the cash flow she currently has.
This isn’t a something for nothing deal, just a something until they afford something deal.

Join.me could be an option, and bomgar has a cloud based solution that may be reasonable.
Here’s a fairly recent thread that beats this subject to death

Webex has a free version.
https://simple-help.com/ is also great. Licensed per concurrent connection (may not be dirt cheap, but worth the cost imo).
I personally like TeamViewer. I used the free version for a while until funding became available to purchase the full version. I love the paid version for the added features. You can create custom installs for clients. All the client needs to do is visit a website and it installs the software. It will pop up on your console and the end user has to accept you to connect to their system. In the office you can create another install for computers you manage, it will allow you to instantly take control without confirmation. I have helped more people using my cell phone and remotely connecting to their workstation then I ever knew was possible. TeamViewer has a steep price but with the features they offer, it pays for itself within the first month. Having the ability to support an RDP session with a client computer that uses multiple monitors is the best.
They do offer a free version (personal use) and it will work for what she wants to do, but licensing the software opens some of the software’s best features.
For simplified remote support check out “one click VNC” users download a stand alone executable that connects them to a listening session on the Tech’s end. So there is no futzing around with the client side to get it to work, if they can hit the internet, it usually works. The firewall configs happen on the tech side where they have full control.
I’m sure that there are some free ones that are good, but remember, you get what you pay for:)
I use Tight VNC. Its great, fully functional and 100% customization (if you know a bit of coding)
I highly recommend it.
