I started a topic at the start of last year that really errupted. “LogMeIn… Goodbye”. I found that so many others had the same issues with LogMeIn and it’s practices, price hikes and general attitude towards customers. Considering they wanted to limit me even further and charge me $2999.99 on this last hike, it just wasn’t realistic to stick with them as a 2 man operation, regardless of how much I may like the software.

So I’ve tried out a few others to include Splashtop but found either features missing that were big (dual screen support that actually works) or delays in moving windows around on the screen, ect.

I’m seriously curious to hear what others have to say about a truly affordable and quality remote desktop alternative for unattended access? Anything in the rough price range of Splashtop? 200-500ish with some great features that can be used by 2 different users? Not sure we need or care to allow clients to use it for their own purposes like LogMeIn used to allow… more for us to provide support or do things after hours. All help appreciated.

If I had the cash Teamviewer and Screenconnect would be my 2 top choices.

Screenconnect did the same thing Logmein did, it was aquired and they changed a $350 license to like $2500 now.

So I am looking into this: https://simple-help.com/screenconnect-refugees-discount-page

Have you looked at BeAnywhere? I know they were at Spiceworld last year and seemed like they had a neat alternative to LMI. I am not sure about the pricing, however, and did not really get the chance to research it any further.

Definitely TeamViewer. It may be a little more than you had hoped to pay but the quality of the product cannot be underestimated. In your position if you want two people to be able to use it at the same time you will need a 2 Channel license of the Premium sort. You can basically install the quick support software onto as many computers as you please, e.g.: get your customers to install it on their computers ‘until the cows come home’, with the only restriction being that you can only install the full version (and register it) on a few computers. The full version is then used by yourself and your colleague to access customer computers. You can even brand TeamViewer with your business logo, that way your customers will associate remote support, and TeamViewer, with your business!

Though it depends upon your requirement but if the requirement is to manage domain users within the network, Lepide remote admin tool (available free) should be an ideal approach for you.

We’ve got a major issue with Screenconnect that they haven’t come up with a fix for yet. So far the finger pointing is at Kaspersky endpoint security, but I can’t say for certain. Machines go offline in screenconnect and we have to remotely restart the service. That is a huge pain point at the moment. We did not have this issue with Logmein.

Did you try Zoho Assist ? It would be ideal for 2 Techs. You can have shared access of unattended computers between both of you and the add-on starts at just $12/mo/25 comps.

The logmein alternative page from Zoho Assist offers a quick comparison. Do check it out.

PM me for any queries. I’ll be more than happy to assist you.

Hiya,

Came across this one the other day - not sure if it’s what you are after…

Something I used at a previous company was Centrastage (now bought by Autotask). This may be a little more expensive but can scale as to your number of devices/sites. You can either have it pushed to all clients (more pricey) or just to servers. You can do loads - such as run tasks/commands, check events/services without needing to actually remote connect and lots of others. Very helpful, worth a trial at least.

We are a developer company and use ZohoAssist for supporting our customers, cheap and compatible from Windows XP/server 2003 (yep, in 2016 we support that) to 10/2012R2, we can’t be happier

You said this was for unattended access right? So, you want to be able to dial into clients whenever you want, without bothering them, correct? I’ve always used firewalls that have VPN capabilities. I like the fact that when I attach, I’m on the network, giving me access to everything. They need a good firewall anyway.

We use the Citrix offering ‘Fastsupport’, reasonably cheap with multi-monitor and unattended logins. Could be worth a look.

We have always used Dameware and never had much to complain about.

Have a look at IntelliAdmin . You can set up your own server instead of using third-party services.

Have you already tried Techinline’s FixMe.IT? If not, you might want to give it a try here: Free Trial | FixMe.IT Remote Support Software It supports multi-monitor navigation, and if you happen to experience any issues/delays, our support team is always here to assist. It’s also really affordable: you can manage up to 150 unattended machines (and have the ability to run unlimited number of concurrent support sessions) with a single license for just $30 per month or $300 per year.

still happy with screenconnect but we started using them before the price hike.

We went the BeAnywhere route. It was recently acquired by Solarwinds. We just renewed and Solarwinds maintained the pricing promise that was made by BeAnywhere last year when we signed on. It has worked very well for us.
