Hello Spiceheads,

We have a client that has had a break out of Covid cases.

They have a meeting room they gather at on a regular basis this room has a TV connected to the internet in the room it does not have a pc connected to it.

Is there anyway to keep people safe that when they have there meeting they can just login to teams and have it pop up on this conference meeting room TV?

Could you temporarily connect a spare PC to it? That’s the easiest thing to do.

I’m with @reenasun on this one. Find a small form factor computer similar to an Intel NUC and mount it to the back of the TV. This is what we do with our conference room TVs. It allows us to manage the device too . . . You can’t join a TV to a domain.

It wouldn’t be unusual for the TV to have a web browser app, so you could technically log-in to Teams via the web as long as the browser supports it. However, that would be rather tedious to do with a TV remote on a regular basis.

You would of course need a microphone and possibly a camera.

Might be worth getting a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I hear some TVs have Android which can run Teams.

I figured that was going to be the consensus what are your thoughts on these devices

Fair point, Hammerhead. I forgot that some TV’s do run android.

WarKraft, I’m not familiar with that particular PC Stick, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

If you’re REALLY cheap, you can set a laptop at the end of the table and cast it’s screen to the TV.

But yeah, any NUC with a cam/mic arrangement will do. For good sound, get something with DSP built-in.

We installed the Logitech Meetup for camera (has a built-in mic with good pick-up but no DSP) and a throw down Spracht Conference Mate for sound.

There’s also a Polycom VoIP conference phone for when the boss forgets and starts his meeting via RDP to his desktop PC. Easiest way to call into the meeting for fast sound.
