Wow, what an incredible few days at SpiceWorld 2024! From the keynotes to the breakout sessions to the shindig and party, this year’s conference was one to remember. The part of SpiceWorld that I disliked was that it was over way too soon.

I will put a lot more information below, but I’ll start with some quick parts to make things easy to find.

  1. Keynote Session recordings . Did you miss the keynotes or want to watch them again? They will be available on demand for a few months. Just remember, you have to be logged into the Community to view these!
  1. The 2025 State of IT is now available! This year’s report offers valuable insights you can use to benchmark technology adoption, budgeting, and IT hiring plans against those of your peers across multiple industries and organization sizes.
  2. Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk (CHD) updates . We announced that CHD would remain a primary focus, including repeatable checklists, bulk tasks, a low-cost, ad-free plan for those who want fewer distractions, and other improvements.
  3. SpiceWorld 2025 . Yes, planning for SpiceWorld 2025 is in the works, and we announced the dates will be November 11 - 13 . Yes, back to three (3) days! We have yet to open registration, but I recommend ensuring you’re subscribed to the SpiceWorld newsletter to be among the first to know.
  4. SpiceWorld 2024 pictures . There are still many (many!) photos to go through, but we have started adding a few to the SpiceWorld 2024 album.
  5. Award & Recognition . Each year, we recognize some of the great contributions of members who make a difference in our Community.
  6. Level Up Your IT Game SpiceWorld kickoff video . Just click this link to get to the video below.
  7. We want your feedback . Reply and let us know what you liked, what you think could be done better, and what you hope to see at next year’s event.

If you missed it or want to relive the adventure, we uploaded the intro video, which you can view here. A huge thank you to @Jeff-A-Spiceworks Grettler, @todd-spiceworks, and everyone who worked on this; it was hilarious and amazing!

Awards & Recognition

Something we do every year at SpiceWorld is recognize our Spicie Award recipients. While the program has changed over the years, its foundation remains the same. The Spicies is our version of a lifetime achievement award, honoring the outstanding achievements of technology professionals and brand representatives who make a difference in our Community.

This year, the Hero Award went to @PatrickFarrell and the Advisor Award to @Phil-CommQuotes! These recipients are exemplary examples for all of us on how best to assist each other in the Community – with great information while keeping it spicy, classy, and friendly.

But wait, there’s more! Here are a few more categories that we wanted to take a few minutes to thank for all their outstanding contributions to the Community, who help keep IT spicy, professional, and friendly!

  • Repeat Offender – @glenn-p has been attending SpiceWorld since its very beginning, and this marked his 17th return to the event!

  • Pure Capsaicins – Both @doctordns and @Denis-Kelley achieved the highest level of engagement in the Spiceworks Community earlier this year.

  • Support Heroes – While the team does a fantastic job supporting those who use our IT tools and the Community platform, @clutka and @rod-it go above and beyond by helping their peers and us at Spiceworks in the Spiceworks Support area.

  • Sparking Your Day – Every weekday, community members who want to spark your day write a piece of content. A special thank you to @dailyllama, @jimender2, @Lonny6654, @repairatrooper, @steve6343, and @vikingmichael for keeping this alive and thriving!

  • Challenge Accepted – @jrx1216 picked up the torch while the official Daily Challenge was rebuilt. Not only that, but the development team learned a lot from this version, which you see emulated in the relaunched version of the Daily Challenge.

  • Stupid Friday ?s. – @Stay_Dandy has been keeping this series moving forward since late 2020, and I know it delights many Community members each Friday!

  • Game Time! – @OZ10 has been authoring the “Games on Tap” and “What games did you play this weekend?” series. Many of us look forward to it each week, as our Community has many gamers.

  • SpiceBuddies – This program started in 2016. Comprised of veteran SpiceWorld attendees, these Community members come together to help other attendees make the most of SpiceWorld. So, a huge thank you to @cynlis, @computerdave, @Doomwrecker, @GeekyLibrarian, @greg-starnes, @jared-busch, @ashleystarnes, @Sammy-P, @shad97, @Slava, @stalley, @selorex, @technical-angel, and @the_huff for doing this! I think this year might have seen the biggest attendance at the SpiceBuddy Bootcamp that I’ve ever seen!

And last but definitely not least… to all of our session speakers! We had some amazing sessions and none of that could have happened without all of those who took out their time and shared their experiences and expertise with all of us. A huge THANK YOU to all of our speakers.

We want your feedback

We want to hear from you, whether you joined us in person, tuned in to the livestream, or followed along in the Community.

  • What was your favorite part?
  • What was your favorite session?
  • What could we do better?

And don’t forget to sign up for the SpiceWorld newsletter to stay informed, including when SpiceWorld 2025 registration is open!

Thanks for the shout out!

It always has great participation. I love seeing people recalling stories from the past, sharing recipes, and just a nice light read. I am just glad I can contribute to this site in some small way.

I have been having a blast writing these and reading the responses. Thanks for the shout out!

Hey Sean – thanks for the mention and recognition during your keynote. And thanks to all of the SpiceHeads and GG’s who congratulated me on the accomplishment last week.

SpiceWorld feels more like a family reunion to me each time that I go. I get to see old friends that I haven’t seen in person since the last one. I also get to meet some new friends who are there for the first time. To all of you I say “you make me feel honored to be a part of the community”.

Y’all keep it Spicy!

This person seems pretty cool! Seems like the kind of person that we’d hire and put in a purple pepper professor costume  :sw_profcapsaicin:

I’m so excited to see y’all at this next year!

I highly suggest Doug’s keynote (the “Why we must center human connection amid great technological change” one) if you’re at all interested in philosophy or the human aspect of tech. He spent the first half of the talk confirming some of my pessimistic tendencies and by the end had me legitimately optimistic for the future. All of them were great, but I really enjoyed this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s event, and the only thing I was truly disappointed in was the loss of the 3rd day. That meant one less breakfast, lunch and dinner to truly network with my peers and interact with the vendors. Sure, we had extracurricular outings/events, but these are noisier and more “party-like” (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I just missed the true “round table” experiences that are the mealtimes and cocktail hours in the exhibit hall. I’m so pleased the announcement’s already been made that it will return to 3 days, and again in November when it’s (hopefully) not so insanely hot!

I loved the mix of sessions and that there was at least one non-vendor one in every timeslot. I even attended a vendor-specific session, but they made it more like a panel/discussion and less like a 50-minute sales pitch. Nicely done, @justin-auvik and crew!

I really appreciated that they allowed us to print our avatars on our badges this year. I hear that used to be a thing, but this was the first time in the 4 years I’ve been coming that I saw it happen, and it was really nice to be able to put faces and names to avatars.

I loved the choice of venue for the after-party. Moody Theater is cool, too, but I really enjoyed the indoor/outdoor feel of this, and the games, smores bar and fire pits were a nice touch.

@Sean-Spiceworks, just out of curiosity, how did this year’s attendance stack up against recent years? It seemed like it was a little better, but I was wondering if that was really the case, or if it just seemed that way because the AT&T conference center felt a bit smaller and more intimate than the downtown conference center?
