I started a LinkedIn account a while back but never finished it up; I get invites from people all over the country that I have no idea who they are so I don’t accept them. Is there a better alternative our there? I’m not “job hunting” but if a good opportunity comes along I don’t want to miss it!
5 Spice ups
I have a Facebook account and a linkedin account.
Linkedin for people I would work with, recommend or are happy to have my name associated with.
Facebook is for friends and people I would happily socialise with.
Some people make one, some people both, some people neither.
Use the account just ensure you tighten it down to the best privacy settings you can.

Linkedin has become somewhat of a spam fest…
My feed seems to be mostly about recruiters crying over what a hard time they get…
When all they want is love
Well love and that 25% commish…
Well if that had to choose one or the other then lets get the commish first…
because you can always buy some loving.

“Linkedin has become somewhat of a spam fest…”
They will want you to give them access to your addressbook, after which they will spam everyone in it. A colleague joined and as a result I’ve been spammed ever since. Even unsubscribing only stopped the spam for a while, then it started again.
Having a linkedin account makes your professional profile extend to other professional people as well.
it helps you find a good job as part of the HR’s background checking…
– aside from spamming issues… You should get all a linkedin account and follow Spiceworks.
