A question for my friends at Eaton. Is there a UPS that would work for this type of installation? I’m being asked about a battery backup for this system, to keep it on-line during power outages.

The picture really does not mean anything.

What is important is what is the power load and what runtime is needed.

I would think a battery bank over a UPS as UPS are not that efficient, looks like a mostly DC driven system.

A few ideas come to mind based on the picture. If you have any more details about the specs, application, etc. that would help. Any details on the input power or outlets? Looks like it might be outside?

What a nifty piece of process control.

The thing behind the fan at the top right is an electric enclosure heater to keep the computer comfy. That may be a power pig for a UPS, need to see what this thing draws overall.

(And the shiny thing that says ‘air conditioner’ … is)

Also…as always…does it network to anything that will die when the power fails making backup for this unit pointless?

It does network to a switch that has battery backup already so it is available. I’m waiting for specs on the system from one of the engineers.

It is actually inside, in a heated/cooled metal building. The only power coming in are the wires that come up from the bottom of the case and feed into the DIN rail panel. I’m waiting on specs from one of the engineers to see what kind of power it draws. As far as I know, it is a mini WIndows computer that monitors some valves? Sorry I don’t have a lot of knowledge on the system, I just provided a network connection for it.
