Hi

Looking at Veeam Essentials

On the sockets, what do they count it against as each host I user has 2 Processor Sockets with 6 Core Per Sockets.

I have 2 Hosts

Would I need to go for 4 Sockets or the 24 Cores(4 Processors x6 Cores each)

Cheers

4 Spice ups

Veeam licencing is based on processor sockets. So you have 2 CPUs for each host, so your minimum would be 4 sockets.

Think that’s the 2 x 2 Socket bundle for Veeam Essentials.

That setup is pretty much what I’m implementing as I type this.

6 Spice ups

Andrew is spot on here. We license our product based on number of physical sockets source hosts have. In your case, it would be 4 sockets, and you would need a license covering that number.

In addition, it seems to be a perfect time to take a look at our special promo and save 33% on Veeam Backup Essentials .

Thanks.

5 Spice ups

Interesting thing I discovered is I have a 3 servers running VMware for a total of 5 processors. Not thinking that one of servers that has 2 processors is really sitting as a hot spare and not running anything that is getting backed up I bought 5 processor licenses. Veeam is only using 3 licences because it’s only backing up 2 servers with a total of 3 processors. Now I will qualify this with I’ve only been using Veeam for a 1 month and haven’t needed to move productions servers to that hot spare yet so I don’t know what happens then but its something to consider or talk to you Veeam rep about if you are in the VM world.

Cool, Thanks Vladimir & Andrew

Be nice if that offer was valid for Australia or Asia / Pacific region as well.
