Worst: I’m the only IT guy in our group, 5 companies, a lot of users. I’ve got the backup of a hardware guy and developer, but being the only administrator/analyst, means I’m on standby 24/7 and more often than not sit at work over weekends sorting out user mistakes. I’m not allowed to go without my company phone, ever. It kinda sucks
Best: The people I work with are fantastic. I’ve never with such hard working, friendly and all around pleasing people. They are honestly the only reason I’m still here.

+1 for “The users” being the answer to both. Contact with such a wide variety of people from the amazingly nice to people who are…not.
Also, getting paid to tinker with PCs and other assorted tech all day is quite nice

Best: I am largely my own boss. I have a boss for signing off on large changes or for spending money, but I get to install my own systems (like spiceworks) as long as they improve the way we work (like spiceworks).
Worst: Getting SMS messages at 3AM because the server in another country is playing around. Running the IT for 4 offices in 4 timezones can make for a few manic days when things go wrong.

The Best: Successful implementations and projects
The Worst: The users.
the best thing is I work in a seperate part of the country to the rest of my dept so I’m free to do whatever I want.
Worst thing is the salary.

Worst: When disaster strikes no matter how catastrophic or mundane, I’m always IT.
Best: Showing the problem who’s boss and helping people get on with their work

Best: Project work and Hardware upgrades
Worst: Help Desk (I’m starting too hate it)
Best - The people, the work
Worst - My Boss

best - flexibility, my boss, the people
worst - communication
Best - Constantly learning, never a day goes by without me picking up something else, tinkering with computers sure is fun. The people here are great (largely) and are very nice, hard working, motivated people.
Worst - Sometimes getting landed with things which are admin\hr type jobs because of the Companies “Just get on with it attitude”

I have three jobs with three different employers, so I’m combining them into one for this.
Best: I get to play with servers and pilot projects all the time.
Meh: Little time to prepare for classes and read up on the new criteria for what I’m supposed to teach.
Worst: Four hours to sleep and six-day weeks.
Best:
I do what I want, private office.
Worst:
I recently moved to cover 2 mills I now do double the work, same pay.
The people.
A smaller subset of the people.

Best: Definitely the people (I’m surprised that is such a common answer). Plus, the company I work for has so many benefits beyond the scope of normal companies. (Profit Sharing, bagels on Fridays, tanning bed, bringing in food all the time, and countless others.)
Worst: The Pay (I have almost been here 1 year now, so hopefully that will change a little bit soon…)
Best: Some of the people, actually running the network without corporate input.
Worst: Some of the people, bosses that think they know more than they do.
Best - Being able to figure out that nagging problem you have been working on for a month straight
Bad - The food we have during our b-day parties, celebrations, whatever. It is so damn good it’s horrible.

Best: Learning something new everyday. Our company is in a growth phase so I get to learn (and evaluate) new things almost daily.
Worst: Most decisions about my job are made with little or no input from me. That’s fine because of my position but it would be nice sometimes to be able to input on the things I have learned from the (above) Best thing about my job.
