I provide small local business with IT services such as Cabling, Networking device installation.

And I used to suggest Cisco small business product which is cheap and reliable products. and for those who want more cheaper devices I recommended D-LINK products. because as I know. some Dlink product uses “Broadcom” chipset which is a big company.

Now, I would like to know if my choice was right. I have been never thought about other manufacturers. So far, no one complaint and if the Cisco and D-link are the best choice for small business, I intend to stick with those two brands…Please Correct me if I was wrong. and I would also like to know whether all cisco products use a CPU invented/manufactured by Cisco.
I liked D-LINK DIR868L cause regardless of tech specs, the name of the Broadcom made me feel reliable and I think the name guarantees the durability and ability.

Check out Ubiquiti products.

Wireless routers tend to be crappy wireless combined with a crappy router to achieve the price.

Grab an EdgeRouter Lite and some UniFi access points . Start with 1 AP and expand as needed.

Personally I’ve never encountered anything even coming close to Ubnt prices from Cisco or D-Link that could compare to an EdgeRouter for throughput.

Hey Alex, if your client is looking for a small business WiFi router, he can look at our Small Business RV Series. We have different models under the family depending on the features they are looking for (speed, number of ports, VPN throughput, etc.)

You can check the model comparison of the family here: Routers and SD-WAN - Cisco
And here’s the link of the data sheets: Cisco Small Business RV Series Routers - Data Sheets - Cisco

Hope this helps

I agree with Dataless. Ubiquiti makes solid stuff that’s inexpensive. I have used the Edge Router in multiple deployments and have also used UniFi APs extensively. I have actually considered getting an Edge Router and UniFi AP for my home network.

A couple things to note about UniFi APs though:

1.) They require a UniFi application running on a computer in order to configure/manage them (the APs are ‘bound’ to that computer). The computer/server doesn’t need to actually be running for the APs to operate, only to configure/manage. They do NOT have a local web UI at all. Some people really hate this, but it’s not too bad. In certain situations it can really be a pain, but the majority of the time it won’t be an issue.
2.) They are light on features/config options (compared to others). Cisco/Aruba APs are more configurable. Depending on what you need, this may not be an issue. Just make sure to research the features and find out what you actually need.

With that being said, Ubituiti products are still rock solid and I still recommend them. For what they offer, the price/performance ratio is very good. Just make sure whatever you chose has the features you need/want.
