Hi All,

Having a problem. I’ve followed many of the suggestions in the community regarding Windows Firewall. I’ve applied a GPO which allows the ports needed: 137 138 139 445.

I’ve also set the policy in GPO - Comp Config > Admin Temp > Network > Network Conn > Windows Firewall > Domain > Allow Remote Administration Exception = ENABLED.

Am I missing something? I cannot get a scan to work from Spiceworks on my entire domain (XP SP2/SP3 Clients)

Thanks

If you disable the firewall does it work?

I’ve tested on other machines with no problem.

That didn’t answer my question. Does anything come up when you scan? Are there any errors? Have you tried disabling the firewall completly on any of them?

When disabling the firewall - the scans work. When I turn the firewall on (via GPO) the scans do not work. It only gets the DNS name and adds that to Inventory.

You need port 135 open. Is that a miss type in your first post?

Hi, yes, 135 is open.

Do I need to open all of these ports?

TCP 1024 - 2000 Inbound - Dynamic Ports for WMI

That seems a bit strange to open all those ports.

I got this working…

In the GPO I set remote admin exception policy using server name (along with IP), when I removed the name from the exceptions, it worked.

Thanks for the help.
