Been trying to install a Samsung all-in-one this morning, installed ok on XP and Win7 machines but not working as expected on our 2008 R2 Server, meant for our terminal users, installs ok but the scanner doesn’t appear in the MS Office Document scanner (on the server).
So I head on over to the Samsung website, do a search for the offending device, notice a link to chat to an adviser, ok I thought, entered all my details, get a chat window, get asked all the information I just entered again, then get asked where I am located… Turns out I’ve been connected to an agent in UAE who wont help me because I’m UK, what difference does it make?
Have now sent an email and got a response just to say they’re busy!
Not impressed.
3 Spice ups
Maybe I should send them my CV? Clearly need additional staff, I’ve still not had a response!
Samsung, you make fantastic kit but are found lacking in customer care skills.
Last part of rant, just for completeness…
I finally called them, the agent concluded that since there is no documentation on doing this that it is not possible to do.
So now on the hunt for a 3rd party network scanning tool, I’ve tried a few out but most just try to hook in to the local TWAIN scanner list so no help here, RemoteScan (Dells offering) looks like it may do what I need but I’ll have to ask for an evaluation to test.
I wonder if I could do this with telnet?
