We pushed out a GPO to keep Windows 11 from installing. This put all of our Windows 10 computers on 21H1. Some of our Z600 workstations have started randomly freezing. Has anyone else encountered this?
Thanks

6 Spice ups

Will they unfreeze if you do a reverse GPO to undo the GPO ??

The GPO pushed them from 20H2 to 21H1 so I don’t think that that would roll back the update.
There’s probably ways around it and may even require reinstalling win 10 but they are 10+ year old systems so I don’t want to put a ton of time into them.

all my Zs (z4s) have been upgraded to 21H1 with no issues.

Yeah, all of our Z440s and Z4s are doing fine too.

These Z600s are quite old and don’t have official HP Windows 10 drivers so I figure it is something in 21H1 that caused this, just trying to see if anyone else is experiencing it.

These systems are used as admin / non-production systems and they are great for that so if there’s a quick, easy way to fix them then that would be great. Otherwise, we’ve gotten around 10 years out of them so we’ll just replace them, although now is not a great time to try to find new systems.

I don’t know this will help at all but we have some older 4th gen Intel I5/I7 Dell systems that started freezing when going to 21H1.

They would freeze intermittently when idle and then sometimes immediately when resuming from sleep.

The solution ended up being in updating the intel RST driver and the SATA driver, both I had to get from Intel’s website instead of Dell’s.

If I recall correctly I had some issue finding the correct one that didn’t say “This system is incompatible/Get driver from OEM/ect.”

Thanks so much!
I’ll check this out when I get back in the office.
