Hi everybody,

My company bought a Zbook G2 17" Windows 7 Pro but the user who uses it tells me that it suffers of randoms hangs.

He’s saying that if he leaves the Workstation alone for 1\\2hours when he comes back the notebook is freezed, no mouse movement, no keyboard input, only thing he can do is reboot long pressing the power button.

I googled the problem and already tried the Power Saving settings as said in the HP forum with no luck, left the Workstation running Prime95 and Furmark for one day without any issue, did a memtest, chkdsk, everything running fine.

Searched in the Windows event log for any error but nothing appears, there is a gap since the Notebook freezed until I rebooted it (Like it was shut down) so I did a test, left the PC in idle for one day, screen on, only with a CAD program and the clock in foregroud, the clock never stopped but when i came back to check the system freezed like there wasn’t a disk where it can read data.

I think that can be a SSD problem since the workstation is running from an PciE M2 SSD (Sandisk A110), maybe too new technology for some power saving settings.

Oh I forgot, i also disabled any disk related power saving feature without any result…

You guys have any ideas?

The issue turned out to be something with the battery and motherboard. Had a tech out but swapping the motherboard and battery but did not resolve it. Ended up having to get a replacement unit which has been working fine.

I wonder if yours is the same issue. Here is a way to verify if it is battery-related.

Remove the battery and run it strictly from the power adapter. If the problem disappears then you have the battery problem I mentioned above. Buying another battery won’t resolve it. You will need to get support to work with you on this one and you may need to get it replaced.

{"@type":"Person
johndod
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/johndod"}},{"@type":"Answer
Hello @ @niccolcarnelos , thank you and @Caur for purchasing the HP ZBook G2. The girl who answered me asked for the S\\N, my phone number and other information and said that “All the tecnician are busy, you will be recalled soon”. This happened two days ago, i’m still waiting… But that’s not the problem! Now i’m trying with a standard SATA SSD and leaving the PciE M2 SSD just for storage purpose, let’s see if it freeze again! If it doesn’t work i’ll try without battery… Wish me luck Thanks again

{"@type":"Person
niccolcarnelos
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/niccolcarnelos"}},{"@type":"Answer
Hello @nvezz, appreciate very much your update and sincerely regret your support experience.
