Q: in a civil case judge ruled for defendant. my question is can plaintiff file a criminal suit against defendant.

It is up to the District Attorney whether or not to bring criminal charges against the defendant. The Plaintiff could ask the court to issue a warrant for the defendant's arrest and then it will be up to the judge whether or not to issue said warrant.

This depends on the situation and whether or not there were objections from the attorneys and any motions in limine before the trial that would keep the co-defendants apart.
