the software detection shows that i have AVG installed on machine ‘ag2-t’. but it is not installed there. VEXIRA is installed and is listed in the apps as well, but i cant find anythign of AVG on the system.

Is there a way to prevent this false positive that occurs on several other machines as well?

If Spiceworks indicates that there is software installed on a device that isn’t actually installed, it’s usually do to an incomplete uninstall and Spiceworks is still picking up the remnants of that program, or Spiceworks just hasn’t collected updated data.

Here’s a quick thing you can do first before checking the registries in this device:

  • Go into the device(s) that are still incorrectly reporting software and click “refresh”. See if it still detects AVG
  • Failing that, initiate a scan of that single device in Settings → Network Scan. Disable Incremental Scanning for testing purposes. Check and see if AVG is still reported.

If it’s still showing up, check the following registry hives in the device to make sure AVG keys aren’t still around:

HKLM/Software/MicrosoftCurrentVersion/Uninstall and HKLM/Software/Wow6432Node/MicrosoftCurrentVersion/Uninstall

yep that seems to have fixe it. a few dirty uninstalls and the rest just dissappeared.
