I had AVG 7.5.516 installed on my computer, then removed it using its own uninstaller (which left behind reg keys and folders), before installing Windows Live OneCare. Even after manually removing registry entries and folders from the comptuer, Spiceworks is still reporting that I have AVG installed. Any ideas on why, and how to remove it?

3 Spice ups

I am having a similar AV issue. Spiceworks is telling me that one of my machines has 2 instances of Avast Antivirus installed, when there is actually only one installed.

Also the same here, have a notebook that came with the trial setup of norton internet security, which was uninstalled and symantec corporate was then installed…It’s detecting both as being currently installed and NIS as being out of date.

I’ve gotten Spiceworks to only see one AV installation. Here’s what I did, though the steps might be different for you:

  1. Disabled OneCare’s AV and Re-installed AVG.
  2. Uninstalled AVG and rebooted.
  3. Re-enabled OneCare.
  4. Removed the comptuer from Spiceworks (Settings tab).
  5. Re-added the computer to the network scan, then re-scanned.

I’m honestly not sure if the install/uninstall did it, or the remove/add from Spiceworks, or the combination of the two, but this is what worked for me.

Hope this helps!
