There is two because most antivirus will report the application version (AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012) and then the virus definitions (AVG 2012.0.1901). The last being the version of antivirus database that AVG is using to scan your computer. It’s the part that updates daily or weekly or whenever it’s set to. Versus the first part, the Application which you only download or update once a year, hence the 2011/2012/etc…<\/p>\n

http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Anti-Virus_Support_In_Spiceworks%3F<\/a><\/p>\n We look in two places,<\/p>\n the uninstall hive in the registry (this is essentially what populates the Add/Remove Programs wizard in Windows) I’m guessing you see two AVs listed because Spiceworks is either finding a match in both places, or Security Center (which should be dominant in this situation) has both AVs listed.<\/p>\n Try out these commands to see what Security Center has listed:<\/p>\n
