Switch 2 consoles scheduled to go live online again tonight, here’s what you need to know

Switch 2
Switch 2 launch now live

Update 6/6 at 4:15 a.m.: Nintendo Switch 2 now available at Target, including the console only and the Mario Kart World bundle – delivery by Monday, July 9 (at the time of writing):

Switch 2 finally released early this morning at midnight, and while the fresh online re-stock at retailers like Walmart, GameStop, and Costco was limited at best, not all is lost. There are additional Switch consoles scheduled to go live starting as early as later tonight and we are once again here to make sure you get a shot at them.

Walmart’s stock, which was limited to the Mario Kart World bundle, depleted extremely fast yesterday – customers were met with one of those dreaded virtual queues and there wasn’t much else you could do but be ready and cross your fingers. GameStop – the other major retailer that announced midnight launch day availability – was even more limited as the only option it had online was a sort of bespoke $625 Mario Kart World bundle that forced customers to buy a selection of accessories they may or may not have wanted.

It wasn’t great to say the least, but some folks were definitely able to land one without waiting in long lines at brick and mortar locations or voyaging out into the night in hopes of stumbling upon one at the local Best Buy or Target.

But again, there’s still hope to land one this week. While we might see retailer like Walmart and GameStop with units back in-stock (some Costco members are still having luck by the way), Target will be your next best chance by the looks of it.

The national retailer opened store locations today with promises of more units, however it also made an official announcement saying that it was holding back online orders until tomorrow, and probably more like midnight tonight (and that’s likely to be midnight ET, or June 5 at 9 a.m. PT).

Why Target decided to do this is unclear but I think we are all hoping it wasn’t just to try and get folks in the store today, only to leave very few units left for online buyers tomorrow.

Either way, it is scheduled to go live on June 6 with additional Switch units online. Perhaps the most important question remaining is when and at what time will Target’s Switch 2 orders go live on June 6?

Target – Nintendo Switch 2 launch

In its official press release regarding its launch day/week plans, it did not give a specific time. But if pre-orders back in April and the way things went late last night are any indication, you will want to be ready to go and logged into your Target account with payment methods saved at midnight ET tonight. You certainly don’t want to wake up tomorrow morning and realize everything sold out by 12:30 a.m.

Be up, be ready, and stay locked to our social feeds for in-stock alerts for what might be your last good chance at a “launch day” Switch 2 console.

In the mean time, check out our hands-on impressions video and a complete look at everything Nintendo released today – games from $15, accessories, FREE updates for Switch 2, and more.
