I have about 8 remote sites, after updating to 4.7 (and a re-install of the central server) I am trying to connect my remote sites and regardless of name/ip http or https I am unable to get any of the sites to act as a remote site to another. At first I thought it was just because I had to rebuild the central site. But it is not, as I can not take 2 existing remote sites and change them so 1 of the acts as a remote to the other, always get AUTHORIZATION FAILED even copy/paste.

Any advice?? in which log can i view this transaction failing to get more info?

Thanks,

So let me know that I’m following you right: you’ve upgraded all your sites to 4.7 and did a full reinstall on the central site. And now the RC’s won’t connect to the central.

Can you connect to the RC’s via http://remote_site:port/ (or https) from the central site?

I’m assuming since you redid the central site, you don’t have any remote collectors in your list in the RC settings?

Verify that you are using the right port on the remote collector for the central site. If you reinstalled your main install, the port might have changed.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Hey Cruss,

My first thought would be to completely remove the settings for the remote collectors, restart the services, and then try to reconnect to the central site.

And since it’s an authentication failed thing, check the username and password that you are using. If you have your password set to expire, it’s possible that account’s password has either expired or been changed. You will need to remove the previous credentials and input the new ones.

Let me know if that doesn’t work for you.

{"@type":"Person
colelakes
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/colelakes"}},{"@type":"Answer

Sorry, I should have said AUTHORIZATION FAILED when I put in the password for the remote site. All sites are at version 4.7.51900.

{"@type":"Person
c-russ5571
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/c-russ5571"}},{"@type":"Answer

Yes I am able to get to the url both standard port and ssl. I was having a certificate problem on the central site, thought that might be it so I took care fo the certificate problem and still have the same problem. So I took 2 of the remote sites and pointed 1 to the other and get the same result AUTHORIZATION FAILED when I put in the password. I have used all the ports, 9675 9676 80 and 443.

Does anyone know which log this transaction woudl be written to?

{"@type":"Person
coryrussell4690
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/coryrussell4690"}},{"@type":"Answer

well, only workaround was to re-install the remote site(s) after that, works like a charm. Just a pain in the ARSE.

{"@type":"Person
coryrussell4690
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/coryrussell4690"}},{"@type":"Answer

Sorry to hear it was a pain, but glad you got it worked out!

As a side note, can you please mark any helpful posts and a best answer? that way this question will be removed from Spiceworks’ queue.
