I’m a writer who wants to earn Security+ certification.

I don’t want to pay to study, because I believe the resources are out there for free. (If I must pay to study, I’d put a cap on it at $150.)

Any recommended sites or resources that fit these parameters?

The Cybrary trainings are good, Professor Messer is also always solid. I actually just found the resource below for free practice tests. This also includes A+ and Network+

I really like Lynda for educational videos. You just have to pay for a monthly access fee but they do have a free trial as well. Looks like they have 7 different courses with 333 videos for Security+ - https://www.lynda.com/Security-training-tutorials/7640-0.html

Good luck with your exam!

I used the Sybex text-book and paid for the professor messer notes, total cost around $50. Also go to the comptia website download the exam objectives and make sure you understand everything that is listed on there. Security+401

Some libraries offer free access to Lynda training if you have a library card. You just put in your library card number and password to access it online.
