Hi Spiceheads,
I’m seriously considering CompTIA Security + cert, but i’m looking for some study materials (preferably free), if you have this cert, what did you use to study ?
Plus, if anyone is from Europe, does this cert really help going to security oriented jobs ?
Which cert do you recommend to start in security ?

I think everyone here agrees professormesser is an epic resource for free training. Im doing this cert right now as well, I have bought the offical book and a udemy course combined with professormesser I feel comfortable with that right now.

Look at job postings and see if they have requirements like CompTIA Security+ in there - but be aware - what often counts more then anything is experience.
I do have the Security+ - I did not really use any study material - but I know the matter rather well and in the end you just need that. Look at the topics and then start understanding how things like rights (e.g. groups, members, etc.) certificates, viruses (any malware), encryption, human interaction etc. work - once you know that you have all the answer you need.
If I can give you any advice, do not try to study for the certificate, try to study for a deeper understanding while looking at single trees in the forest but as well the forest as a whole (details and big picture) - the certificate then becomes easy - but more important is that what ever role you are looking for - you are better prepared to do a good job and if they have a interview test of some kind, you have a very high chance of passing with top scores.

I would second all the posts here already. Cybrary.it is amazing for free material, as well as Professor Messer. Professor Messer also does monthly study groups for A+, Network+ and Security+, plus has a daily (I Believe) question…Always worth checking it out

I bookmarked the Professor Messer page. Lots of good information there.
