How did I get pipette equipment as an advertisement? I’m not even in the medical field. Google is desperate to target someone for their ads.
If this keeps up, I’ll have to turn on my ad blocker again.

Are you sure that this was Googles choice?
I thought it was Spiceworks choice which ad publisher got displayed out to you as you were on the Spiceworks platform.
Hi MAINSTRIKE, just saw your reply on the other topic as well. I just resent my request to the ad team with a little more, ahem, spice on it. I added this ad to my request as well. We’ll get this resolved soon.

Yeah, I do know it’s SWZD’s choice to display the ads. I was be facetious about Google Ads in general.
Publishers often sell remnant ad inventory (not purchased directly by advertisers) to exchanges (like Google, though there are many others). Within the exchanges, advertisers bid on the inventory and can target their preferred audience across thousands of websites.

I meant to reply to this later on Friday (but didn’t). We found the culprit and the issue has been resolved.

And now AdRoll got back in as soon as I unmarked the best answer.
I didn’t see the full URL initially. These ad are being served through Google ads.
If you look at the full URL, “gclid” is included. This stands for Google Click Identifier. Rather than using typical UTM tracking parameters, Google uses this to track clicks via auto-tagging .
The gclsrc=aw callout in the URL i ndicates that the ad is being served via Google’s Search Ad 360 platform.
All this to say that the banners are likely showing up for you on more websites than SW - even if you haven’t discovered them yet. Each website could blacklist that domain from their site, but with as many websites as there are you’re likely better off clearing your browser history/cache and deleting your cookies to reset any user behavior that has (incorrectly) indicated you fit into the audience that the advertiser is targeting.
Depending on how much effort you’re willing to put in, you may want to do the same for your mobile browsers, due to cross-device tracking.
It’s important to also realize that this may not fix the issue, but it’s a good start. Advertisers have so many ways to target their campaigns. Most common is audience targeting though and the above suggested should solve that issue. If they’re targeting specific websites, the site will need to blacklist the domain.

Heidi isn’t incorrect but we can control what ads will show up in our network. I just (re)pinged the team on this one. I think they may have focused more on the ad lounge one and possibly missed this one.
