Understood. I finally found the compatibility pages.
Thank you.

So long as the motherboard socket, and the CPU socket match, the CPU should work. You may require BIOS updates for older boards, but physically they are compatible.

Both say 12th gen, so yeah. You can use that as your rule of thumb. CPU generation match is all you need.

Thank you.

I use pcpartpicker.com to answer these kinds of questions. You might enjoy it too. Checks compatability between all the components.

I would strongly recommend that you find a system builder if you are actually asking about compatibility ?

Coz

  1. I would use i7 (you may want to research low-mid i7 vs high end i5 CPUs)
  2. RAM compatibility
  3. Dedicated GPU
  4. Fixing up a PC is as simple as a 10 piece jig-saw puzzle…IF you have the correct components

My advice is to always check the Motherboard CPU compatibility page. The fellows did mention socket compatibility, but physical compatibility isn’t always enough.
I’ve built a fair amount of systems and have made mistakes like this in the past.

Just no, for example the quoted processor from OP is (for example) 30% faster than 10th gen i7s, and is still a good £150-200 cheaper. Its even a smidgen quicker than 11th Gen i7s.

Thank you.

That really depends on how you look at it… why would you go below 14th Gen CPUs, is is 15th Gen ?

Maybe I am lucky that I am in Singapore and there is this plaza where there are 4 floors of DIY PC makers…here are some of their pricelists

If this is now solved, can you close the topic by marking a best answer.
