We currently use a basic wireless doorbell to alert key staff when required. I am needing to extend this to another building on site. Typically, the doorbells range does not reach to the new location.

Does anyone have a system they may use or recommend? My first thoughts are a smart doorbell - but almost all come with a camera which isn’t needed.

What does your current doorbell do? Like sends a text or email or something to certain people? Does it just go “ding dong”?

I assume you don’t have wifi coverage in the new building? Are you able to have hardwired network connection?

Rather than a doorbell we assign a VoIP phone with a sign, call X. or you can auto-dial upon pickup a call pickup group.
Assume the doorbell is so someone will escort the person in, the phone does the same thing. No reason you cannot ringout to phones anywhere within the facility.

We have a fully manned security guard, but we still allow call-in from the front desk.
Faster though we actually have a kiosk where a visitor must sign in, and we only allow certain individuals the ability to have “guests.” The employee gets access to the visitor system, and when a “guest” signs in a the kiosk it emails, texts, or calls or all of the above the “host”, to notify them the “guest” has arrived. Its completely cloud based, but works simply and efficiently.

Just some alternatives to a doorbell.

I agree, a wired phone that dials an “operator” or ring group upon pickup might be better off than a ding-dong.

They also make an integration to a door striker relay, so that you can call a certain “extension” and the door mechanism will release the door.

+1 for a telephone based system. My initial thought was a panel on the wall that acts as a phone. Press the button and the hunt group for both buildings gets a call. Door Phone ADP1 Model ADP1 - Door Phone | Bogen
I had a department add an analog doorbell that was wired to a timed relay before going to their paging system. When the button was pressed, it would hold the signal for a set amount of time or until the button was pressed again. The signal triggered a night-ringer on their paging system, so the whole thing would start ringing. Night Ringer NR100 Model NR100 - Night Ringer | Bogen

We’ve just got a sign with the “reception” phone number on it.

Thank you. We have a VOIP system currently already, so I think we will make use of this as an alert system.

Not something that I had thought of.
