Not that anyone noticed I was missing and was like “WTH did that guy go?”, but I was let go from my last position before the end of my 90-day probation period in July (long story, will tell if asked) and ended up being unemployed for a month and a half. Short and sweet, I’m back in the IT world and ready as ever to surf these forums once again! Feels good to be back!

Yeah, gone long enough to just now notice the new layout. When did that come out?
Welcome back and congrats on the new job.
Why were you gone while out of work? That’s the time that you want to be on here more than normal. Tons of job offers have gone unanswered in the past month.

I will gladly take the place of the nosy prick … What Happened?
Never offer up a good story to a guy who just stares at screens all day!

To be honest, the job loss came so suddenly I couldn’t help but make job hunting an uber-high priority. I was on interviews just about every other day trying to get something. Didn’t really have the time to lounge, even though I wish I would have.

Well, I started that particular position in mid-April and about a week and a half after I started, the toilet on the first floor of my house decided to run while we were at work and ended up flooding the first floor with 1/2" of water. So I had to miss time right off the bat to get things settled with insurance, contractors, etc. I offered to work from home on days I would not be able to come into the office, and they seemed alright with it. That is, until July 3rd rolled around. Supervisor came into the IT office and said I didn’t “wow” them during my time there. Which simply meant, you missed too many damn days (even though it only totalled 4 or 5), now go home and stay there. Had they decided to wait until just after the holiday, the contractors would have been completely finished (came back on the 4th to finish up) and I wouldn’t have had to miss anymore time for any reason. Seeing the silver lining in the clouds, I knew I simply wasn’t meant to be at that company and was meant to do something better elsewhere. Lo and behold, here’s my chance!

Welcome back! I’d hate missing out on these forums.
thought they were just something i’d do for work when i signed up, but i’ve absolutely fallen in love. haha.
anyway, it sounds like that place wasn’t a good environment anyway; it’s definitely for the best that you found somewhere better. congratulations! (and did i mention welcome back?

Be sure to shut the water, power, and gas off to your house every morning for the next 5 months when you leave. Damn job hunting is a full-time job in itself!
Welcome back and congrats!

Welcome back and congrats on the new job.
Congrats - finding a new job is a PITA and a lot of hard work.
Suspect that I may be in a similar situation shortly; really bizarre set-up and it looks as if the role is not as permanent as they originally told me. Hey ho, that’s life - when one door slams shut, there’s usually another one that opens.
Glad to see your new place of work allows you to use the community. Now the important question - do they use Spiceworks?
