We have 2000 users in our organization. The average user has a Computer/Laptop, 2 Screens, Cisco IP Phone, Cellphone, and Docking Station.

My questions is:

Is there a solution to accurately capture what the user has, and build an inventory for the whole company? I know there will be alot of data entry, but we are looking to track all this data.

Does anyone know of a good application for this?

We use SCCM so for computers/laptops I can pull an inventory from there, but for devices that I cannot manage I will need a solution.

Spiceworks will do a lot of what you are asking out of the box. It will not be on a per user basis unless you want to create groups in spiceworks for each user. Then you would be able to assign all the assets to those usergroups.

I also like this route as it will keep the software and change management under control. As new devices are found on the LAN you can assign them to the user.

You might consider layering on top a MDM solution like MaaS360 for the BYOD stuff…

my 2 cents

Good Luck
