Look, I don’t mind recruiters reaching out to me via email, calling my Google Voice number, or contacting me through Spiceworks. That’s OK.
Do you know what is NOT OK?
Stalking me on LinkedIn, hunting down my company phone number, and calling my direct line WHILE I’M AT WORK!!!
Not cool recruiter, not cool at all. Specially when that line is used for legitimate support calls and I often use speaker phone, with my boss right next door. Jerks.

They should know better than to mess with Bill Kindle. On a side note, I dig the new name.

I mean seriously. WHO THE #($&#$(&* DOES THAT!?!?!? Socially stupid people?
When I stated how upset I was that they contacted me like this for a BS “Customer Champion” position, I lost it. I restated that they should not contact me ON A WORK LINE, at which point they said, “I’m sorry this offended you, but how else was I supposed to contact you?”
cue long uncomfortable pause, before I slammed the phone down.
R U #@)($#$ KIDDING ME?

I have never had that problem but I do have recruiters that send me 3 month temp receptionist jobs that are 1000 miles away. I always wonder what about my resume with 7 years plus experience as a network administrator makes them think I want to be a receptionist.

Clearly, it’s the “administrator” portion of your title.

Why would they even think you would want to be a Customer Champion when you already have your Spiceworks Champion badge?

Probably because they see that I’ve got a lot of experience in IT doing admin work, along with numerous support roles.

Luckily the only recruiters I’ve dealt with were super cool. When they had to get a hold of me during work hours, they knew to call my cell and would even politely ask if it was an OK time to talk. I always appreciated that.

Whenever I re “up” my CV on Jobsites, the pain starts, and yes on LinkedIn, unless I have had dealings with you and would recommend you, don’t even send me an invite…

Also, if I give you a fax number instead of my direct line that means I don’t want to be contacted by phone it doesn’t mean stalk me get my company sales line and call that…

I get the ones who have the perfect position - and only 20 miles from my home! Except their little distance calculator app is as the crow flies, not how one gets there by car. 16 of those miles are open water.
That sucks, and I bet they don’t give a crap that they called you at work. I feel your anger!

Pissed off and a little…insulted. I mean “Customer Champion”
GIVE ME A BREAK. Unless it was paying an insane amount of money (for me that is triple what I currently make) and would let me have the setting that I’m in now.
Agreed, and for how else they could get in touch with you? Use the freakin message system on LinkedIn, I mean really.

Another fine reason to NOT have a LinkedIn account!
After today, I’m questioning why I still have one.

yea I keep meaning to delete mine.
Linkedin is a waste of time really, its almost as bad as facebook but on the unwanted phonecall issue i would put in a formal complaint and look for some type of apology.
