As you may know April fools is right around the corner. What are some of your IT pranks you’ve done to someone or had done to you? like the classic piece of tape under your mouse or setting someones desktop as their background and hiding there shortcuts.

Last year at my old job, we had an ex-colleague who was somewhat… useless.

I was doing some out of hours work, which was essentially watching progress bars, so had a brilliant idea.

I found a picture of this ex-colleague, and printed of hundreds of really small stamp-sized copies, cut them up into squares and spent a good portion of the shift carefully placing them in different locations.

They cropped up every day, and gave a laugh to anyone who worked with him, or had the pleasure of having him answer their tickets!

As far as I know, they are still finding the odd one here and there to this day!

I’ve been trying to get that one to work for a while now,

But either it doesn’t work in Win 8 Pro,

Or our multi monitor setup doesn’t like it.

Turn off the server and wait, then while the rest of the office is running round screaming, you say you need a couple of hours peace locked in my office to fix it. Then relax knowing all you need to do is hit the power button to fix everything lol

As usual (boss form my old job, is once again my boss at new company) I’ll be post-it’ing the mouse, blacking the phone, and CP;ing the desktop icons. and replacing the wallpaper.

I wanted to do it this year but couldn’t find the time.

If you watched the office, there was one scene when Dwight was in charge where he had his brother de-plying the toilet paper with some contraption.

My plan - (maybe I’ll do it next year)

  1. Create a website advertising the de-plying product.

  2. Build a sleek looking de-plying product.

  3. Convince the teachers (I already have the business officer and director on board) that we are now doing this to save money - and that each teacher has to de-ply a few rolls per week.

My boss decided to put one of these devices in my office and let it chrip like a cricket all day.

By the time he came it to tell me I had the entire off turned over looking for the stupid bug only for him to tell me it was that device. I spent 8 hours looking for this bug.

So I’m gonna plug the dongle in the internal USB on my neighbor’s PC and mess with him all day. I’m also going to give a bunch of co workers decoy keyboards and he’ll never figure out who is doing it.
