Seeing as April Fools is just round the corner, I was trying to think of some IT related pranks to pull on our staff.
Does anyone have any good ideas?
Last year we told them than the phone system needed to be cleaned and that some dust maybe present in the ear piece and some such thing.

not one i pulled, but a mate of mine used to work in the London stock exchange. his team sent out an email asking if people wanted DWIM chips installed. DWIM stands for Do What I Meant, and they said that when you type or click on the wrong thing, as you say that’s not what I meant the PC will stop the app from opening and then do what you really wanted it to do.
sadly for the UK finance industry they had over 50 replies asking for them to be fitted

I’ll just leave this here
There is a version of this script for the 4 line display HPs that I don’t have, but shouldn’t be too hard to find.

I may just change a few backgrounds, rotate screens or other things which may “encourage” users to lock their computers when they leave them

It’s a good bay to make all your colleagues a mug of tea/coffee and hand them round with a plate of biscuits. With a big grin on your face. Make sure everyone has already realised its1st April.
You then have 12 months to claim " I am not making the coffee, last time I did it nobody drank it"

Plug a wireless mouse into the back of their tower and occasionally move it and click.
Shutdown -i > have fun with the comments as to why its being shut down.
Or best of all walk out the door and say you quit, come back on Wednesday and say “April fools”, that’ll teach 'em.

One year we changed the voicemail lady’s language/accent. If the user was known to know another language, we changed it to that language, if no second language was known we changed it a British accent (american company). Some even asked us to leave it on the foreign language.
This was on an Avaya IPOffice phone system.

Hah I’m doing something similar. The story is that it’s a gift from our printer leasing company because of all the issues we’ve been having with our brand new MFPs.
Edit: I also created a fake email from the company we lease our printers from to give it some credibility. Will be posting this alongside the above fact sheet on each printer.

Last year we sent out a windows message the said “all your file will be deleted in 5 seconds” or something like that. There was only an ‘ok’ button, no ‘cancel’.
