I have read around a little bit, but I haven’t seen a post on how to buy a new SSL certificate & install it for use with Spiceworks 4.5? I have purchased a 3 year certificate from GoDaddy (already had the credit) & I would like to use it to protect Spiceworks so that I can open port 443 up to the outside & not risk data security issues.

  1. Does anyone know how or where I generate the certificate request?

  2. How can I force Spiceworks to use SSL instead of HTTP? (is there a way to build a re-direct from port 80 to port 443 for those that already have http://helpdesk set up?

  3. How do I change the emails that go out to read https://helpdesk instead of http://helpdesk?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Rusty,

Here are a couple of good places to start:

http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Security_In_Spiceworks

Hopefully, these will help some

Won’t installing IIS take over the port 80 as the default web site??

So there is no way to force Spiceworks users to automatically go to https://helpdesk? Or if IIS takes over, I guess I could do a re-direct from http://helpdesk to https://helpdesk? How do I change the email port?
