I have installed the Beta on a Windows XP workstation and can’t seem to get it to start. It just acts like it is loading for ever.

9 Spice ups

Do you have the spiceworks icon in the task tray, Right click on it an select launch. This happened to me as well and the only way i could open was from the task bar

I have done that. That is when it just sits there like it is loading. While it is loading, if you click on the loading box, it closes Spiceworks.

Looks like issue we got when service lost permission.

perhaps check the permissions on the service (in services.msc).does the user have rights to start services? try retyping the password and start the service and see if it starts manually.

Still a no go.

Is your Windows firewall enabled? If so, try turning it off and see if it will launch.

Nope.

User error?

  • Did you have any other version installed before?
  • Any other web server?
  • What do your startup logs say?

Very funny Andy.

No other versions installed. No other web servers.

Loops from there.

It doesn’t appear to be registering with Windows completely. I just looked in Add/Remove programs and it isn’t shown, but it is shown under Start > All Programs.

That seems broked…

  • Have you tried downloading and installing over the top again?

Will re-download now.

…downloading now.

Chop chop… lol

Installed. Looks like it is doing the same thing.

Goes over my head now then :frowning:

I still vote for user error…

I just looked at the install path(s). When I was installing over the previous, it was nesting the install inside the existing Spiceworks\bin folder.

I just manually deleted Spiceworks and am re-installing to c:\Program Files\Spiceworks.

Still trying to start…

Started trying at 2:48pm. It is now 2:58pm…still “starting”

Thinks it broken

Check the Spice Tray.log file I bet you there’s some kind of error about not finding the Httpd file. Something to do with Apache couldn’t and didnt have the time to figure it out but just reinstalled Version. 4.1.

I got the same issue here too.
I was also copying the db/data folders back over…

All i get is “An Application Error Occurred” when clicking launch.
Trying fresh install with new database.
