Hi,
We just started using Spiceworks and we’re really enthousiastic about it. We have one central installation and remote installations at several clients of us. We have a scanning problem with almost all the workstations and the few that don’t have a scan error can’t get past ‘still gathering software information’. We’ve tried all the tips provided on the community site. There is no firewall installed, so that can’t be the problem. We checked the WMI service. We checked our antivirus program. Could anyone give us some more advice on how to get things working?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings,
Helen

Have you tried
(Settings → Network Scan)
Change the Scan Speed to Slow, and disable Incremental Scanning.
Yep we tried, also didn’t do the trick.
Have you tried rescanning one of the machines using the Rescan button and see if that does the trick? We had a few of these issues which were rectified by rescans.

I’m also having this issue… Tried setting scan speed to slow and disabling incremental scanning… Didn’t fix…
When I do a “Rescan” on PC’s individually it fills in the software most of the time… However, I can’t see doing this 635 times…
Out of 1,080 discovered workstations / servers 635 are missing the software inventory…
Any ideas?

Make sure you have tried everything on Troubleshooting Spiceworks Inventory Inconsistencies
I will then call over Ben from Spiceworks if needed

Ok… I did the following:
- Disable Incremental Scanning
-
Enable Scanner sends all data instead of deltas
-
Disable Collect Events, rescan
-
Check the finder_child.log for possible error codes (seen none)
I then did a scan on a subnet that had 55 PC’s with no software inventory… When the scan finished (and it took forever) it had 51 PC’s with no software inventory… So it picked up 4 that didn’t have it…
I then picked one of the 51 Pc’s that still didn’t have any software inventory and ran a scan on it by clicking the “rescan” option… It pulled the software in…

If you delete one and let Spiceworks pick it up again will the software come in?
