We announced the return of the Daily Challenge a few weeks ago. And today, it is back! Don’t worry about missing the previous update; we’ll reiterate important points below.
Getting Started
The first thing to know is that this initial implementation only works for logged-in members. In the future, we’ll have some functionality for logged-out visitors, but even then, you will want to log in to save your progress and join the conversation.
Where can you find it? Today, you can find it by visiting the Daily Challenge category or the My Feed area of the Community Homepage.
Participating in the Daily Challenge is pretty straightforward. You’ll see the question of the day and be able to choose your answer from the selected options. And yes, we are continuing with the "I’m not sure, but I’m excited to learn more! " option from the unofficial version.
Once you’ve submitted your answer, it will let you know if it is correct. You’ll also see the button update to say “Visit the Topic.” Note the topic will not be accessible until you’ve answered the question, even if you have the URL directly to it.
Once you’ve answered the question, the next one will be available starting at midnight UTC the next business day. When it won’t be available the next day, the Daily Challenge banner will update to state when it will be next available.
Other things to know
- Everyone gets the same question . Our first change is that everyone will get the same question each day.
- Topics are available to everyone when the question has been closed . As mentioned above, you can only access the associated topic once you’ve taken the active Daily Challenge question. This changes once the question is no longer active and will be available for everyone to discuss.
- Leaderboards and Profile are “Coming Soon.” These are fast-follow items. Since no one has streaks yet, we decided to save this for shortly after the launch. We also have some exciting plans for leaderboards, where you can compare yourself based on various things, such as people you follow or who have the same job title.
- Badges are also “Coming Soon.” Much like Leaderboards, bling for your profile (aka badges) for the new Daily Challenge will be added later (badges from the vintage platform still exist on your profile).
- Minimizing Daily Challenge . As you may have noticed, when you take the Daily Challenge, the question does not disappear and remains in Your Feed while it is active (for the day). We plan to adjust that soon so you won’t need an extra mouse scroll to view the rest of your Feed.
- Submitting questions . If you have ideas for questions you’d like to see in the Daily Challenge, don’t hesitate to email the team at community@spiceworks.com.
We’re excited to (re)launch the Daily Challenge! If you have any questions or issues, let us know below. While we have some things already coming for future updates, we want to hear your ideas, so don’t hesitate to post them in the spiceworks-community-feature-request area.
Known Issues
We’ll update this list as things come to our attention, but the one(s) we’re currently aware of are:
- You see the Daily Challenge banner but not the question. While we work to resolve this correctly, you can force refresh the page, which will typically make it appear.
- When you submit the correct answer, instead of a green checkmark, you will see a green “x.” More info. Resolved 21 Aug
