Hello,

I am using Spiceworks 5.1.67341 . I have an account name under Network Accounts for Scanning. I am trying to delete this account but instead of the edit button being there, it says “cannot be altered”. This was the primary account that was used to access Windows but I have changed it now. Under account name it stays (current user) beside this account name.

All of the ranges are no longer using this account that I am trying to delete. I have tried different browers but the same error. I have attached a few screens shots.

Any help would be appreciated.

I thought the account that says “Cannot be altered” corresponds to the account that Spiceworks is currently running under, so that’s why you can’t delete it from the accounts list. You don’t need to use this in any of your scan ranges if you’ve added other Windows accounts.

I figured it out after some digging around.

The account could not be altered because the spiceworks service was starting under that user account. I had to first change the account name under the spiceworks service, then I was able to delete the user account.
