Best SSL Certificate Site, does any know, some people say GlobalSign other say GoDaddy, any reason why one over the other.

3 Spice ups

My own personal opinion - Go with whatever is more comfortable to you. I usually register my certificates with Godaddy.

I used Comodo a few months ago when I did mine. Support was top notch and it was all done very quickly.

We just went through the Exchange 2010 migration and the contractor we got used Comodo for both ours and his own. I even got the certificate on the weekend.

I’ve had no problems with my Go Daddy UCC cert. We also went there for a webserver EV certificate, which is also working great.

I COULD do with just a little less spam, but that’s what I get for saying they can send me stuff. I shoulda guessed those Go Daddy girls wouldn’t be writing me. Jillian Michaels is scary anyway.

Digicert worked perfect for us. It’s a middle of the road cost, but I had heard not so good support and response from the other “big daddy” on the block!

See, I think GoDaddy’s site is hard to navigate for renewals, re-issues, etc. Each time I’ve gotten stuck though I was able to get someone on the phone within 5 minutes. Not only did that person not even have an accent, but they also didn’t make fun of my oversights!

Sounds like you had a better experience with GoDaddy then some people I’ve spoken with. I recommended DigiCert based on response time and when I called with a question, they had the answer fast (and no accent). They were also very responsive to email.

I think that should be part of the criteria:

  • Time to provide the cert (remember that you have to validate ownership)

  • Responsiveness to inquiries.

If your provider isn’t responsive, something that should have taken 4 hours can take a couple days

Undoubtedly a silly question, but do you need a UC SSL Cert [Unified Communications Certificate] for Exchange 2010 when you are only using the ‘Standard’ version, no ‘Enterprise’ CALs, and therefore not using the Unified Communications part of Exchange?

I’m only using Exchange for email, but needed the UCC to cover the extra domains that were still in place during the upgrade/transition from 2003. I believe the UCC is also used to cover the OWA URL’s name, as well as the MTA, etc. it isn’t much extra, I would just go with a UCC to be safe.

This thread’s pretty dead though and you’d get better results by posting a new thread.
