Yesterday I turned in my 2 weeks notice at the company I am currently working for. My last day will be after the Labor Day weekend, then I will have a couple days off before starting my new job. My new job is only 10 minutes from home with the option to telecommute if needed. Current job I drive over 2 hours round trip.

Going from a one man show to an MSP will be a little bit of a change for me, but the overall benefits of this change are going to be great. Current company has had a hold on all IT projects for the last 14 months and I don’t see any change it that for the foreseeable future. So I have spent the last year just band-aiding (duck tape in some instances) things to keep them running, only getting the money to fix something when it completely fails, even when I have been telling them for months it is going to fail. Good thing for solid backups.

So I will be keeping my community profile, just not sure how much I will be around.

I went from working in a two-man in-house shop to working at an MSP and the hours were much longer. I learned a lot in a short amount of time (which was great). Just remember to keep a decent work/life balance…

Best of luck!

Congratulations on the new job and best of luck! I hear you on the 1 man shop it’s tiresome at times if the right opportunity knocks I’d do the same!

Good luck and congrats!

10 minutes from home that is a serious bonus. I currently also do the 2 hour commute

Congrats and good luck! As one who commutes 90 minutes each way, I’m jealous.

Congratulations on your new job, and best of luck!

Congrats!

I feel your pain I’ve been doing the same commute now for 13+ years and on a good day it’s 2 1/2 hours round trip.

Congrats on the new job.

New jobs are always exciting. I also had a 2 hour round trip commute and then got a job with a much shorter commute. You will love the difference it makes! Congrats!

Congrats and cheers!

I have a friend that works for the place I am going to, the company is very good about taking care of their employees. Said he works about 45 hours a week, sometimes 50 hours, and he has been there for about 5 years. They have a rotational on call so only have to be on call every few months.

10 Min. commute is great but 8 min. with bike is awesome that’s what I have  Congratulation…
