After 7 years, 8 Spiceworks University classes 5 IT jobs, 2 Spiceworlds and 1 trip to Austin to meet the team and check out SXSW my IT and Spiceworks career is coming to an end. I have been accepted to go to university to study Fine Art at Degree level.
The past 7 years have had their ups and downs but in all honesty, I have never felt so supported than I have with the Spiceworks community. Whenever I have had bad days you awesome guys and gals have been there to pick me up and get me out of the proverbial. You have also helped me celebrate the good times like helping me get over my fear of flying and sending me across the pond to the states, which I shall be visiting again next year. Above all Spiceworks and its community has helped me to do my job, and it has also helped me help other to do their job. I have been lucky enough to be a Spiceworks University tutor and meet lots of my fellow IT pro’s. I have been lucky enough to represent Spiceworks at BETT (I even got to be a speaker there and give out free beer.) The luckiest thing I have been able to do is help test a fantastic piece of software which has made mine and I am sure a few of you guys lives a lot easier. I was one of the first million starting off around 3.6 and love it. Even though I wont be using the app for IT support any longer, I will be utilising it for my uni work to help me remember what I should be doing. You see the best thing about Spiceworks is that anyone can use it and that is what makes it so special. Its not just for IT (ok it was designed for IT) but when you think about it, how long do you spend in the water cooler page or read how to’s about zombie apocalypse’s ect. Spiceworks wanted to be the Facebook of IT but if you look at it, it has become the Facebook for professionals and for that I think the team deserves all the respect that can be bestowed on them.

I will still be around the community but it may be a lot rarer when I post so Thank You, for all your support, help and advice over the years and I wish every single one of you the best in the future.

James

Congratulations, and best of luck on your new direction! Our loss will no doubt be someone else’s gain.

Your experience and future coursxework sounds like you should go be a system admin for Pixar or something.

Good Luck!

It’s sad to see someone leave but at least you are moving on to something else because it’s what YOU want to do. Good luck friend! Cheers.

P.S. Who’s the resident tattoo designer now, eh?

Andy, we will def have to go for a beer again soon. Remember that time you got us lost around London?

Huw, I think I will be more qualified to hold the position. I still think Nick should have given me the tattoo badge for designing that haha

Good luck on your travels! (+1 on the free beer)

You should do what makes you happy; life is just too short to waste. Best of luck; hope it all goes well for you.

(BTW, starting my dissertation for my Masters later this year; starting to get those twitchy feelings already!)
