Heya,

Its ya boi, Batman.

I got a strange ticket from one of my customer-ish. I’ve asked my colleagues and were unsure if it’s just a reflection of something in the background or an actual monitor problem.

(It’s the shadow in the bottom left corner of the picture, don’t ask why its upside down.)

Im tempted to tell them that it’s someone hiding in the back of the room.

Is it possible that the LCD or Backlight on the laptop died partially? Or perhaps a large amount of pressure on the screen at that corner could cause there to be an issue.

Looks to me like the LCD is damaged or dying.

Something else, specifically the shadow at the top of the wall towards the ceiling You can see the line between the ceiling and wall (yellow). somethingelse.jpgIf you look at the impact of the user’s reflection on the task bar (red) you’ll see a similar effect of the display darkening.

Needs a better picture in a darkened room. You can’t tell anything from that.

I have seen screen back lights fail is portions before failing completely. Also as mentioned, had the screen been treated as a new born wee lad, or you know, how a typical end user would treat it? I have seen patterns before where you think there should not be, and didn’t make sense…until said user pokes that the screen roughly to point something out. Damage would be an easy indicator, or if you have a warranty, perhaps looking into a screen replacement would be the way to go. Side note, glossy screen reflect/pick everything up. Hard to tell the shadow you see vs everything else in the room right now.
