So I have taken over a mess of a domain controller. I am working on setting up some mapped network drives, but nothing will take. Now the guy before linked everything under the domain name and not OUs, and then enforced the gp. Any idea how to sort this mess out? I created a new map drive under and OU, and it doesn’t show up at all. I perform a gpresult /r and it doesn’t even show up as not applied. I am at a wall now.

Did you create a new GP for this or add it to the existing one?
Make sure that Authenticated Users has READ rights in the Delegation tab of the GPO. Every new one I have created it is not there by default and the GPO doesn’t work until I set it.

Did that and still nothing… I feel like I just need to delete all gpo’s and go by OU. Order of read is Local,Domain, and then OU right?

LSDOU is the order. I suggest to disable enforced GPOs one by one and see the impact. As you probably know, enforcing GPOs bring in a lot of confusion.

Also, please post the settings of the gpo if possible.
Sorry everybody, I have been really busy on other projects. I have made a new OU and moved the user, so the Group policy is in the same OU with the user. Well I run a group policy modeling and I receive this.
And then a run a gpresult /r on the machine and this is what I see.
Any Thoughts?
Are you setting this up as a User or Computer GP? If User, did you add the user to the “Security Filtering” on the “Scope” tab of the GPO? If Computer did you do the same with the computer name?
I added the security group that the user is tied with. It is a user GPO, I want this mapped drive to populate at every login to any pc or server.
Anybody Have an Idea on my issue? I am at a complete lost. I have looked everywhere for conflicts and can’t find any. Errrr lol
I am not sure what is going on with yours. I set up a new GP with only mapped drives up yesterday just as you have done and it worked for my test subject. At this point I am out of suggestions.
I do not know how the guy before got this damn job. I am going to have to delete all GPO’s this weekend, Move everybody to a darn OU, not a container (seriously? why would he put everybody in a container) his structure dn,cn=companyname,cn=department,cn=subdepartment,cn=user. I mean who does that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
