I have a printer in a managed office, a Ricoh Aficio MP C4000, I also have a computer set up with a share on it.

\10.6.178.211\Scans

I can access the Web Image monitor from the machine where the shared folder is, so I know they can see each other on the network, the problem is the photocopier never seems to see the scanned folder.

The computer and photocopier have the same subnet and gateway addresses, and I have the folder protocol set to SMB \10.6.178.211\Scans, but its not working, if I navigate to this folder from the computer itself, it works!

Is there anything else you need to know about this, what other details do you need, what else should I try,

The managed office does not have an SMTP server/relay for me to point it at, so thats out of the question, I’m thinking FTP server, but worried that I’ll run into the same problem as above.

The only last thing is NCP, which I’ve never heard of.

Any help? Much Appreciated!

@Ricoh

What OS is the share on? 99% of the time, the issue is shared folder permissions or local firewall on the shared machine. You need to ensure everyone has full control of the share, and simple file sharing is disabled.

HI.

I am having a similar problem only with an MFI 3050ci. Some shares work and others just refuse. Failed to understand it. I decided to temporarily enable sending to email via the google server. here is an article describing how to go about that : http://www.ceics.com/support/google-mail-smtp-relay-solution

Not sure if this will help but maybe it can work as a temp solution whilst a proper answer arrives. The set up is quite easy.

So you have it setup for your domain.com or domain.local and when entering the user credentials instead of domain\user try user@domain.com or .local depending on how you setup AD.

Also on the server do you have NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled?

the share is on a Windows XP Pro, Security on that particular folder show Everyone - Full Access

I can print to the photocopier, so they are connected.

Scanned File Status just shows “Waiting…”

There is no server (that I have access to) as they are in a managed office.

Simple file sharing wasn’t on, but it’s switched on now, i’ve redone the scan, still nothing. Also, there is no firewall on this machine.

Ok <i’ve got it working, it was the files shares, I think I was doing it from the wrong place. Thanks!

Hi, Can you please provide the steps which you followed in order to make it work? I seem to be experiencing the same issue

Just give EVERYONE full rights on shared folder you are creating from users PC/LAPTOP.

Best practice is to share folder from any other volume except Windows partition to troubleshoot better, same goes for shared folders from file server. EVERYONE is something required for this otherwise I was hitting my head from ages and it just today I discovered this which I am glad to share to the community which has helped me in most of my troublesome days.
