How do I know what windows programs will run in ubuntu?

The question you ask is a difficult one to answer since windows programs are not intended to run in linux, you need to run a library so when the app calls for windows specific items, linux can server them up. But Wine has come a long ways in getting this to work over the years. The only way to truly know, is to try the program in wine.
