I am installing Spiceworks 7 for a large customer, some 9000+ devices over a dozen remote sites. We have installed remote collectors at each of the sites. As they are using SW for asset management and tracking, not PC management and monitoring, the plan is to scan each of the sites maybe once per week.

Looking at the advanced performance issues page (http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Advanced_Performance_Issues), I was under the impression that the Network Scan settings on the primary SW machine would dictate the schedule the remotes would use. To make this work, I created custom groups that were based on IP ranges. I then added each of those groups to the “Network Scan” settings page under schedule.

But this doesn’t appear to be working. All my remote scans appear to be working hourly.

Then I come across the Enable Schedule Per Network Range In SW 7.0 how-to (http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/40467-enable-schedule-per-network-range-in-sw-7-0) that makes me think I need to handle all of this at the remote level using advanced settings.

So which is it? How do you properly schedule those scans?
