UPDATE

If you’re looking for information on how to close your Spiceworks Account and we’ve moved to our new community platform, you will want to go to the below topic instead. But beneath that, I’m retaining the original content in this post.

Go here: How do I close my Spiceworks Community account? (for the new platform)

ORIGINAL POST

You want to close your account?! That’s very unfortunate. If you’re having problems getting something done in Spiceworks, we encourage you to go to the Community Support forum and post your problems. There are many people there eager to help you out.

So you’re still here, huh? Alright, if you’re sure you want to completely rid yourself of Spiceworks, this is how to do it.

Step 1: Go to Account Settings

Make sure you are logged in and then mouse over your profile name in the top-right corner and select “Account Settings”.

Step 2: Go to Community Settings

Under Account Settings, you’ll see a link to “Community Settings”. Click that.

Step 3: Close Account

At the very bottom of that page, you should see a “Close Account” section. Click the link and it should close your account.

Once clicked, that should automatically close your account and it will remove you automatically from any email subscriptions you have from the community but it may take a few days to get you off any digests you may have joined.

We’d appreciate it if you could let us know why you are closing your Community Account down below (before you close it, of course!).

And if you have any questions or need assistance with anything, never hesitate to reach out to us: community@spiceworks.com

I can’t think of why anyone would want to do this but good idea.

The first step is potentially misleading. It might make folks post to the general Spiceworks forum, rather than community support. Can you update this How-To to be more explicit where issues like this are to be discussed?

Good call. While it doesn’t autolink, I did add the URL after that paragraph.

the UX looks completely different today and I miss to find the information of this guide.

@Sean-Spiceworks

I found this by @Suzanne-Spiceworks. I would like propose that the delete button should be below the “download archive” button.

Without google and tools limiting it to 2024 the deletion procedure is really hard to find.
That said, not only GPDR regions might want to delete their accounts.

Here is the link to close accounts

Hi @anon94410766, which guide specifically? The Community Guidelines can be found in the left hand navigation (when on desktop) where you see My Feed, Daily Challenge, etc.

If you mean the field-guide, we do need to find a better way to make it more findable.

Hi Sean, I am referring the the one of yours (original post) up this page.

Oh sorry, I think I replied while you were editing your post.

While GDPR is specific to certain regions, we do use it globally. So anyone looking to have their account fully removed can go to our DSAR Portal and get the information they want or have their accounts removed, no matter where in the world you are.

I’ll go and update the original post to link to the newer one in case someone finds this one first:

But I don’t disagree, we do need to find ways to make account management a little more user-friendly.

Thanks Sean! Linked Suzannes it in my reply while we discussed.
With that update this this how-to, I believe everyone should be able to find it.

Fantastic! And thanks for calling this out. I did just update the original post in this topic to help, and it’s a good reminder as we start to look at the overall user experience (to include the UI) of this new platform. Always ways to improve things!
