I recently read a post from a few years ago that Spiceworks was phasing out the in-person training. Can anyone please confirm/deny this?

I am not aware of any in person training from Spiceworks. The community however have many articles and tutorials to get you started.

As a former trainer for them, I can confirm this is the case. Hasn’t been any for a couple of years now.

Another SpiceTrainer here.
After the in-person classes were discontinued, we did have in-person training at SpiceWorld in Austin the day before the conference. This to was cancelled last year, but you never know, it might be back.

That’d be great! The online tutorials and etc are great, but sometimes you just need the in-person experience.

Agreed. All of the SpiceTrainers were very disappointed when the program was stopped.

Not sure how much things have changed since it was written, but there’s also the book that Spankmeister wrote:
https://www.amazon.com/Getting-Started-Spiceworks-Darren-Schoen/dp/178216684X/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1377882520&sr=8-1#
Plus, if you can make it out to Spiceworld, there should be sessions on specific topics related to using the app, plus you can actually talk to the developers and support guys in person.

You can also check with your local Spicecorp. Some of them may be able to offer some kind of informal training that you might be looking for.

We had a meetup on Tuesday. Some of our members have offered to help with training on-site.
BTW- does anyone want a copy of Spiceworks 1.01? I found my copy and have it on my flash drive.

you SpiceTrainers weren’t the only ones disappointed… We had two days of classrooms booked pretty solid for Grey in Calgary and I was always looking forward to running another two-day for the Edmonton SpiceCorps… but it never came to be…
We run 45-60 minute sessions at each SpiceCorps meeting to chat about anything Spiceworks and at the last meeting we went through a new non-IT implementation of the free cloud help desk that i rolled out to help the largest youth-based non-profit group in canada… it was a cool presentation.
You should have no problem getting someone to present for 40 minutes on inventory, help desk, purchasing… just let the admin know what you are looking for…
The book is from 2013; any chance it will be updated soon?

Not likely. There is nobody working on this type of training any more. It’s disappointing, but true.
Last time I talked to Daren, there were no plans to update the book. That said, not much has changed in the last few years other then the look and feel. Functionally, Spiceworks Helpdesk, Inventory, Portal, etc. are not much different today then they were back then.
