Hi,

It’s my first post here and I hope I’ll be able to help in the future !

I’m having problems on a MS Office 2016 Pro Plus installation for a client. The computer is on Windows 10 Family, latest build. The client had a M365 subscription which ended in 2017 but no Outlook 365 installed on the computer. He was using Outlook 2007.

I recommended he switches to Office 2016 (he didn’t want to switch to 365), so I tried installing Office 2016, with an OEM licence key. Once the install is complete, it launches Outlook 365 instead of Outlook 2016, but the 365 is duely activated with the Office 2016 Pro Plus key. I then fully uninstalled all Office versions of the computer (2007 + the 365/2016 I just installed) with an uninstaller. I still get the same problem, 365 is installed instead of Outlook 2016.

I also tried to create a new Microsoft account and download the iso with it, instead of the client’s MS account which is linked to an obsolete 365 subscription. I still get the same problem.

I haven’t found a clue about this issue on the internet and I am clueless.

Thanks for your help !

Honestly the “uninstall” feature is more of a repair option now as it doesn’t remove all of the pieces like it did with the older versions. It gets rid of the major chunks so they can be reinstalled. You have to scrub a computer if you change Office versions from 2013 and forward. They are so intertwined that they don’t like to leave.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Check the apps as well not just control-panel->programs.

I find win10 default adds the office-apps for each profile

Remove that and any office installations then reinstall 2016 pro-plus

{"@type":"Person
maxsec
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/maxsec"}},{"@type":"Answer
