I’m looking at inventory and it is reporting I have only 6 installs of a certain application, which I know for a fact I have WAY more of. Also, when I run an installed application report and specify this application, it returns zero results. What am I doing wrong?

2 Spice ups

I would delete the device out of your inventory that you KNOW has this software installed and then rescan. When it adds it back see if this software is now accurate. For the report, is there a different version of the software that is being looked for? I have seen weird things like that with their installed software selection.

Hey Jaime! Are you seeing any scan errors in your scans? That would explain the discrepency. If Spiceworks is having trouble signing into the devices via WMI, then we can’t pull the installation list, which means that SW doesn’t know what’s installed everywhere. Take a look here if your scan is having trouble .

As for the report, it’s hard to answer not knowing some details. Are you running the stock “Installed Applications” report without any modifications?
Is it possible the application has a slightly different name than what you’re used to seeing? I know that sounds a little crazy, but if the registry has it as “Company’s Program A”, and you normally only see “Program A”, it can be a little jarring.
